I was scared when I walked out of my tent in the bushland beside the river, but when I heard the roar of a bulldozer it all changed.
I thought, “Oh my God, they’ve been bulldozing all day and there’s no sign of me”, said Claire, a teacher from New South Wales.
It was a surreal feeling.
Claire and her family were in a remote area and were not able to find the nearest police station.
I just thought, I don’t know how they’re going to find me, so I’m going to be lucky to get out alive.
I was so frightened, I couldn’t breathe, so it was the worst feeling in the world. I couldn�t believe it.
